Do you have Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage on your current policy? If not, you may be looking at a world of financial trouble and a lot of wasted time if you’re ever hit by someone who does not have the proper insurance coverage. If you’re unsure as to what Uninsured and/or Underinsured Motorist coverage actually is, here is a brief explanation as to what the purpose is:
UNINSURED MOTOR VEHICLE
- A vehicle that has no liability coverage, has Liability coverage that does not meet the state’s financial responsibility requirement, is driven by an unidentified hit-and-run driver, or has invalid liability coverage because the insurer is insolvent or denies coverage.
UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED MOTORIST COVERAGE
- Uninsured motorist coverage pays for injuries sustained by you and your passengers caused by an uninsured, underinsured, or hit-and-run driver, as defined by the law in the jurisdiction where the accident occurred. It also covers you if you are hit as a pedestrian.
